Usage notes

Use this extension to communicate a custom age range that qualifies a healthcare service eligibility entry. The extension is expected when HealthcareService.eligibility.code contains customAgeRange from the PCA eligibility code system.

minAge and maxAge are integer values representing whole years. The unit child is fixed to the UCUM code a (year) and must not be set to any other value.

The following rules apply when using this extension:

  1. minAge and maxAge must each be a value between 1 and 120 inclusive.
  2. Minimum age cannot be larger than maximum age.
  3. This extension may appear more than once within a single HealthcareService.eligibility entry to represent multiple age ranges for the same eligibility code.
  4. When multiple age ranges are present, they must not overlap. Two ranges overlap when the maxAge of one range is greater than or equal to the minAge of another (e.g. ranges 1–5 and 5–10 overlap; ranges 1–4 and 5–10 do not). Overlap validation is enforced by the application and is not expressed as a profile-level invariant.
