The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) is seeking feedback on the draft Common CIS Requirements v0.1.

Common Clinical Information System Requirements (Common CIS Requirements)

Common CIS Requirements outline the recommended minimum requirements for Clinical Information Systems (CIS’s) to connect with Australia’s national digital health infrastructure. They ensure systems can securely exchange information and work together seamlessly across different care settings and sectors. Built on nationally recognised specifications, these standards create a shared baseline that support safe, consistent, and interoperable information flow across the healthcare system. They define foundational recommendations for all CIS’s. The Common CIS Requirements are intentionally structured so sector-specific requirements such as those for Aged Care, General Practice and future Allied Health CISs can be layered on top. This allows each care setting to meet its unique needs while still aligning with a unified national framework.

The Common CIS Requirements Feedback is now open

Feedback is now open for the Common CIS Requirements until COB 30th April 2026, and we invite you to review these. While you may mark up the document if preferred, feedback submitted via the spreadsheet will be prioritised, as it allows the team to track and reconcile comments more efficiently.

All feedback provided as part of the consultation process will be used to inform a final version of the Common CIS Requirements. Please submit your completed spreadsheet by the due date via email to the Standards Inbox standards@digitalhealth.gov.au.
