The production environment will be available during this time however there will be a degradation of up to 30 minutes during this period.

My Health Record production upgrade on 7 May 2026

The My Health Record system production environment will be upgraded on 7 May 2026. 

As part of the upgrade, patches will be deployed to maintain the security posture of the My Health Record system. The patch release notes from Oracle do not suggest that there will be any impact to vendors. However, there is still a risk that these patches may impact vendors who interact with the My Health Record system.

During the upgrade, all functionality of the My Health Record system, including connecting mobile applications, will be available.

If a consumer or healthcare provider needs assistance, they can call the help line on 1800 723 471 (available 24 hours, 7 days a week).

Urgent Action - Cipher changes required to online health services security

Services Australia is updating the Transport Layer Security (TLS) standards used to protect data transit. The Australian Signals Directorate have provided advice outlining TLS standards which requires Services Australia to stop using TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1. Cipher changes are required in conjunction with TLS updates.

What’s changing

In addition to the decommissioning of TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 on 5 May 2026, cipher updates will be required to support transactions. All systems must use TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 to transact with Services Australia in combination with the approved ciphers listed below.

Supported ciphers following the cutover on 5 May 2026:

What you need to do

• Check your systems support TLS 1.2 or 1.3.
• Ensure all systems are using supported ciphers listed above
• Update any systems that still rely on older TLS versions and unsupported ciphers
• Test your connection to ensure compatibility before the deadline.
• Provide support to your customers to ensure they have upgraded by 5 May 2026.

Services Australia is communicating with healthcare providers and locations through peak bodies. Refer to this communication to assist with notifying your own end users.

Urgent Action: Updates to online health services security

Services Australia is updating the Transport Layer Security (TLS) standards used to protect data transit. What’s changing

TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 will no longer be supported. All systems must use TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 to transact with Services Australia.

When is this happening

TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will be decommissioned on 5 May 2026. If your software or systems do not support TLS 1.2 or 1.3 by this date, health professionals using your product won’t be able to access affected online health services.

Services Australia advice: SHA-2 Signing certificates available on 26 March 2026

The current SHA-1 Medicare PKI Signing certificate used to sign outbound messages from the Healthcare Identifiers (HI) Service expires in July 2026. We’re renewing this as a SHA-2 PKI Signing certificate. 

What you need to know 

The SHA-2 Signing certificate will be deployed into the production HI Service on 26 March 2026.

If your software doesn’t work with the new signing certificate, your customers won’t be able to connect to digital health infrastructure after 26 March 2026.

Restriction of Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.0 and 1.1 in the production environment

On Thursday 29 January 2026 we sent the below reminder about changes to the Services Australia production environment scheduled for tonight. We’re writing to advise that the scope of tonight’s change has been updated. Please read the information below carefully, as this differs from what was previously communicated.

What you need to know

• The release will go ahead and we’ll still be upgrading our production environment to TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 tonight at 20:00 (AEDT).
• We will not turn off TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 tonight, and they will continue to be supported in the production environment. We will turn off TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 at a later date, yet to be confirmed.
• There will no longer be a hard cut over tonight and there’ll be no impact to software vendors and healthcare professionals who systems are currently using TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1.
• TLS version 1.3 will be available from Wednesday 4 February 04:00 2026 (AEDT) at the conclusion of the release window.

What you need to do

• No immediate action is required, however you should continue making efforts to ensure all software is compatible with at least TLS 1.2, in preparation for Services Australia turning off support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 in the near future.
• TLS is a security protocol for establishing encryption channels over computer networks.
• Information Security Manual (ISM) guidelines provided by the Australian Signals Directorate dictate that Services Australia must be compliant with at least TLS 1.2.
• Health professionals who don’t upgrade to at least TLS 1.2 will have connectivity issues once Services Australia removes support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1.

Online Technical Support (OTS) and Software Vendor Test (SVT) environment availability for Australia Day – Holiday 

Please be advised that the Software Vendor Technical Support, Product Integration and Developer Liaison teams will be unavailable on Monday 26 January 2026 due to the Australia Day public holiday. The Software Vendor Technical Support phone number, 1300 550 115, will be diverted to the on-call number for critical production issues only.

The vendor environment will be available but unsupported. Any technical issues that arise will be investigated the following business day.

Scheduled outage to vendor environment – 20 January 2026

Services Australia advises that due to scheduled maintenance, there will be an outage to the vendor environment between approximately 8.00pm-10.00pm on Tuesday 20 January 2026 (AEDT).

The Health Systems Developer Portal and Developer Testing Support System will be unavailable during this period.
